Design Thoughts
Have you ever wondered what design is? What exactly do designers do? And why is it a big deal? If you ask ChatGPT or look in a dictionary to define the word “design”, it will probably find terms like “functionality” , “arrangement”, “aesthetics”, “problem-solving”, “industrial design”, “user experience”, “architectural”, “needs”, “usability”, “efficiency”, “sustainability”…and more,
if you ask me, as a passionate advocate for design, I'd personally say design is not only about these terms, It’s also about commitment, responsibility, and discipline. It's a process of coming up with ideas, prototyping, testing, analyzing and improving the product design to make people’s life better.
Basically, design is like teamwork between the designer, the user, and the world around us. Designers aren't just about making things look good; they understand what people truly need, they embrace inclusivity and prioritize simplicity and practicality.
And you know what's cool? Design is always evolving. Every designer faces the truth that our first ideas aren't always the best because it’s like a never-ending game of making things better and better. Things you see and use everyday, from your morning routine to bedtime, is shaped by design.
I'm totally fascinated by how people in the past designed things. Think about the ancient Egyptians; they were amazing at coming up with design solutions in different fields that still blow our minds today! And when you look back at old pictures or talk to older people, you realize how much things have evolved over the years.
I personally see designers as the superheroes of everyday life. They're always making things useful, simpler, and more beautiful, all while thinking about how to take care of our planet.
So remember, next time you're using something cool or noticing how things have changed over time, take a moment to appreciate the awesome power of design :)
